Holistic Sleep Coaching

I completed an OCN Gentle Sleep Coaching course with Babyem, which was taught by Lyndsey Hookway, a Holistic Sleep Coach (as well as a paediatric nurse, health visitor and IBCL breastfeeding consultant).

Holistic sleep coaching is a gentle, family centred and holistic approach to supporting families with sleep issues.

After gaining information on your particular sleep challenges, I will offer you relevant information on sleep biology, developmental stages and sleep needs based on the age of your child. We will also discuss what optimises and impacts on sleep, including daily routines, environmental factors and stress in the family.

family

Once I have built up a picture of what your sleep issues are, I will offer tailor-made steps towards improving sleep which do not impair the parent-child bond, feeding or the attachment needs of the child (I do not recommend methods that involve leaving your baby to cry alone).

I will support you to find strategies to improve sleep that respect the needs of your child (and your family) in a way that feels doable, and that are in line with your parenting approach and values.

Baby sleeping

I offer workshops and one to one educational sessions for those expecting a baby or have a baby under 6 months. I also offer a free introductory chat, one off consultations and several Holistic Sleep Coaching packages.

These involve filling out a questionnaire, keeping a sleep diary as well as offering information and support in implementing the strategies you choose to try.

Although it is normal for babies to wake frequently and need closeness, as they get older there are ways to support sleep that are gentle and which can be introduced when they are developmentally ready, in order to improve sleep both for them and for you.

Sleep deprivation has a negative impact on both children and parents and so during this process of developing your sleep coaching plan the needs of all members of the family will be taken into account.

I believe (and have experienced!) that as parents, having enough rest will support you to feel more resourced, resilient, present, patient, playful, loving and responsive with your kids.

Whilst I am committed to support you on this journey to improving your families sleep, it will require your willingness and commitment as these changes can take patience and time. Holistic sleep coaching not only aims to improve your families sleep now but long-term and can support your children to have a positive relationship with sleep for the rest of their lives.
